Canonical has released the latest update of its Ubuntu Linux
platform, adding enhancements to the Containers support in the server
edition, while the desktop edition delivers a number of enhancements
including tools to make it easier to develop on Ubuntu.
Ubuntu 14.10 includes the latest Linux Containers update plus Docker 1.2, and Canonical claims to offer user-level container control, providing the ability for any user to spin up containers without the need for super-user privileges.
Canonical began shipping its server platform integrated with the OpenStack cloud framework in 2013, so Ubuntu 14.10 (codenamed UtopicUnicorn) includes the latest Juno release of OpenStack made available last week.
